Shown before he waxed a chump like a candle
With the 6th overall pick, the Cubs selected Albert Almora, a defensive center fielder out of high school. He was born in 1994, which pretty much sickens me. I cannot pretend to offer any insight except what was regurgitated from other web sites, so I will save everyone their time. All I know is we all have high hopes with the new management team and their ability to succeed in the draft, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. They certainly don't appear to be comprising or trying to get an immediate impact player, as Mark Appel, the pitcher out of Stanford that was widely believed to be the first overall pick was still available. This shows that they are willing to take a longer term approach despite the scrutiny their picks will be under, which I believe is a step in the right direction. Either that or they remember what happened last time they paid exorbitant amounts for souther California pitcher.
