September's historically a tough time to be a Cubs fan. Not only are we most often WAYYYY out of the running, but football, both college and pro, makes its grand arrival and the spectre of hockey looms on the horizon. But hey, we've still got baseball for a short while, even if it is yet another year of really, really depressing ball.
Over the weekend, the Bears and the tenth anniversary of 9/11 conspired to push the Cubs back to nearly the Arts and Entertainment section of the Trib. But they at least managed to take 2 out of 3 close games. And they gave us this amazing picture of Tony Campana moments after getting punched by a comic book supervillain.
While my tone may strike one as defeatist, your intrepid editor is once again heading out to Wrigley Field this coming Friday. Tickets priced from a buck. Shhheeeeit yes.
