Cubs bats: please consume and prove to the world it is never too late in the season to start swinging again

So this is what it must've been like blogging in 2004 - 2006.  WAIW, being the Johnny Come Latelies that we are, have not had to deal with a losing streak of Washington Generals proportions.  John had confidence that Dempster could pull us out of the depths of hell and right the ship.  And he pitched well enough to do so - allowing 3 runs over 7 innings - but the offense was so awful that they were shut down in a complete game effort by Randy Wolf.  This marks the second time we were shut out in the past three games.  It's like watching a middle-school girls basketball game, you would cheer ecstatically to see someone, anyone score.

State Champs after scoring a lay-up in 12 consecutive games

The only chance we even threatened was with Cedneo trying to score and getting, in theory, thrown out at home.  It certainly was a close call, maybe he got the jersey, maybe he didn't.  Either way, shouldn't Cedeno be faster than that? Or better yet, shouldn't we be hitting the ball with more frequency that Quade wouldn't be forced to send him on any chance we had?  It's a good thing we have an off day today.

Reed Johnson, summing it up for everyone

As for some other news...evidently Zambrano elected to not show up for his MRI.  I'm interested to hear how this story unfolds.  Me?  I am expecting the worst.  Assuming Z is out, I would guess your options would be Marshall and / or Samaretc.  I would even venture to go both and leave Marquis out of the mix.  Of course, the rotation of Dempster, Harden, Lilly, Marshall, and Samaretc. doesn't sound like a winning formula, to me.  On the plus side, we get to spend the next 3 days with the ultimate slumpbusting team, the Cincinnati Reds.  Without Dunn or Griff, and Dusty at the helm, I have no doubt we should be able to take the series.

There's a common misconception that, because Ronny (or E6 as he's affectionately known at LOHO) is skinny and Hispanic, he's fast. Actually, he's pretty freakin' slow.
