Jason Marquis got the win despite a 4 run inning. Rich Harden seen wearing "WTF" T-Shirt

It was a crazy game at Wrigley, where the Cubs lost a slim 1 run lead after Marquis gave up 4 in the top of the 3rd, only to see them put up 8 in the bottom of the inning. I don't know how to describe the pitching outing today. I have such low expectations for when he is on the mound, that any time we get a win when he pitches seems like a great effort. On the plus side, he was able to go 6.1 innings, which means the bullpen did not have to eat up innings, and more importantly, we didn't have to see Bob Howry (Eyre gets the boot, but Howry is allowed to ruin multiple games...the jury is still out).

Ryan Theriot determines that the direction of Mecca is dead center

A recap would be incomplete if Mark DeRosa's sweet-ass grand slam wasn't mentioned. He has now hit 12 on the season, which is now just one shy of his career high. On top of that, every starting position player got a hit, and Soriano got 3 RBIs on his 21st homer of the year. I love seeing that the whole team is involved, and I especially love 11 runs on 11 hits. It makes it seem like we are the most efficient team ever.

Samardzija had a killer "Your mom" joke

The win makes the it the third series in a row, and provides a good bit of momentum for our first day off in the past 20. More importantly, it will keep us in good spirits in this weekend's huge series against the Cards. I am sick of people saying "it's still early." It is now August. When the season ends in September, August should no long be considered "early." That's all I got for now. Let's kick some Cardinal ass.
